Does completion of your class give us the necessary paperwork to  waiver the driving test required by the state?

   Where is the class held?

Q -- Does completion of you class give us the necessary paperwork to waiver the driving test required by the state?  

A – Yes.  After completing our class, you will receive a copy of your DE-99,Certificate of Completion.  When you take this copy to you local licensing office, they will issue you a new driver’s license.  You will have to pay the fee for the license. The Drivers License Examiner reserves the right to administer the driving or written tests, but will normally accept a Certificate of Completion as a substitute for any other testing. You must attend all 20 hours to qualify for the DE-99.

Q-- I am under 18 years of age, are there any special requirements?

 A-  If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian is required to visit us in person and sign the waiver form prior to your participation in the first day of class.  If you fail to do so you will not be allowed to participate.

Q -- I would like to know when the class meets?

  A – The class schedule is as follows:

First evening              5:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Saturday                       8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Sunday                         8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  Note:  During the heat of the summer, MTSI encourages the classes to meet an hour earlier on Saturday and Sunday to get out of the heat.

 

Q -- When do classes start?  

A – MTSI begins teaching classes in the middle of March and will continue teaching them until November.

 

Q -- How do I register for a class?  

A – You can register or enroll in a class in one of two ways. 

  For those who wish to enroll on-line, you can do so using a credit card.  Follow these steps: From the MTSI Home Page, click on BRC Tab.  Then click on the Enrollment Tab.  Select which class you want and click on the shopping cart.  You will now be taken to the PayPal system where you can pay with your credit card.  Just follow the instructions.

  For those who wish to enroll through the mail, you can do so using a check or money order.  Follow these steps:  Print out an enrollment form.  You can do so by printing the BRC page which contains the enrollment form.  Or you can print the following link.  Enrollment Form.  Fill in the form with the information asked for.  Remember to request two different class dates, your first choice and your second choice.  Mail your enrollment application and your check or money order to

Q – How will I know that my enrollment went through?  

A – After your enrollment is processed, you will receive an enrollment confirmation letter.  If you enrolled on-line, you will receive an email at the address you provided.  If you mail in your enrollment form, you will receive a letter at the mailing address you provided.  In either case the email or letter will confirm the class you enrolled in, it’s location and the cost.

 

Q -- What do  I need to bring to the class?

A -- For the first class session you only need to bring yourself.  We'll provide all the
materials you need.  On Saturday and Sunday, you need to bring a long sleeve
shirt or jacket, full length pants, over the ankle shoes or boots, and full
fingered gloves.  If you have your own helmet that you are already
comfortable with, bring it also.  We also suggest that you bring a pair of
sunglasses for a little extra protection while on the range.

 


Q -- Where is the class held?

A --  In El Dorado_____The classroom is located in room 803, in building 800, on the Butler
County Community College
Campus in El Dorado , Kansas .  Our range is located
in the parking lot west of building 800.

In Andover______ The classroom is in the north end of the 5000 Building at 715 E. 13th street on the Butler County College Andover Campus. The Range is located in the East Half of the main parking lot.

In Independence_______ The classroom is the Experimental Aircraft Assn. Building at the southeast end of the Runway at The Independence Airport. The Airport is located East and South of Independence just off Highway US 75. The Range is located adjacent to the runway west of the EAA Building

To enroll in an available course click on the Enroll On-line tab at the top of the page and select date that fits your schedule. This will take you to the first step of enrolling on-line. If a Date is not listed, enrollment for that class has been closed.  If you wish to pay by check simply note the dates that suit your schedule, print the enroll by mail page and fill out the enrollment form and mail it to the office.

If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian is required to visit us in person and sign the waiver form prior to your participation in the first day of class.  If you fail to do so you will not be allowed to participate.

Course tuition is non-refundable without at least 7 days notice.  A 25% processing fee will be deducted from cancellations made 14 to 7 days prior to course date.  If your cancellation is made 15 or more days prior to the course a 10% processing is assessed.

Classes meet at 5:45 p.m. on the first Evening and lasts until 9:45. On Saturday and Sunday class begins at 8:00 a.m. lets out at about 5:00 p.m. A one hour lunch is scheduled at approximately 12:00 Noon.

No Riding gear is required on Friday evening, but you will be required to bring a long sleeve shirt or jacket, full fingered leather gloves, sturdy over the  ankle shoes, and eye protection on Saturday and Sunday.
