Basic RiderCourse®

  •  Two and a half day course

  •  Motorcycle and helmet provided

  •  Qualifies graduates for motorcycle Certificate of Completion in Kansas

  •  Qualifies graduates for insurance premium discounts with many motorcycle insurers.

The Basic RiderCourse is aimed at beginning riders ages 15 and older.  The course includes approximately 8 hours of classroom work and 12 hours of riding instruction.  This class will teach the participant how to operate a motorcycle safely, with emphasis on special skills and mental attitude necessary for dealing with traffic.  A special segment of the course will show how to create your own strategy for riding in traffic and dealing with critical situations.  This course includes both a written and driving test.  Certified RiderCoaches will provide instruction to prepare the student for practical riding in a controlled parking lot.  You’ll smile with satisfaction when the RiderCoach hands you the course completion card.  Motorcycles and helmets for class use are included in the course fee.  After successful completion of the course, participants will qualify for a Kansas Division of Vehicles - Certificate of Completion and premium discounts with some motorcycle insurers. 

Before enrolling in this course participants must be able to balance and ride a bicycle, read, listen and speak English at the sixth grade level.

To enroll in an available course click on the Enroll On-line tab at the top of the page and select date that fits your schedule. This will take you to the first step of enrolling on-line. If a Date is not listed, enrollment for that class has been closed.  If you wish to pay by check simply note the dates that suit your schedule, print the enroll by mail page and fill out the enrollment form and mail it to the office.

If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian is required to visit us in person and sign the waiver form prior to your participation in the first day of class.  If you fail to do so you will not be allowed to participate.

Course tuition is non-refundable without at least 7 days notice.  A 25% processing fee will be deducted from cancellations made 14 to 7 days prior to course date.  If your cancellation is made 15 or more days prior to course date, only a 10% processing fee will be deducted.

  Classes meet at 5:45 p.m. on the first Evening and last until 9:45. On Saturday and Sunday class begins at 8:00 a.m. lets out at about 5:00 p.m. A one hour lunch is scheduled at approximately 12:00 Noon.

No Riding gear is required on the first evening, but you will be required to bring a long sleeve shirt or jacket, full fingered leather gloves, sturdy over the  ankle shoes, and eye protection on Saturday and Sunday.
